The Numerical Modelling division deals with computational hydro- and morphodynamics, including the development of numerical schemes and software as well as model application in the fields of river and hydraulic engineering.
The focus of our research and development activities is on improving and expanding the in-house software system BASEMENT. This simulation software allows the modelling of flow and sediment transport in rivers. The applications include hazard mapping, design of hydro power facilities and flood protection measures as well as river morphology and sediment budget studies. Some application examples are depicted below.
